One
of the most commonly overlooked tactics in SEO is
the Widgets. Often referred to as Gadgets, Widgets
are small components that people place within their
own websites or blog that enable their visitors
to use helpful tools or obtain relevant information.
The best part is that you do not have to do all
the work. Webmasters obtain your widget and place
it on their site themself.
Another
great thing about widgets is that the content does
not necessarily have to be relevant to your website
(although this helps alot in obtaining visitors).
The idea is to create any widget you can think of
and submit it to a widget community (such
as widgetbox.com) and let the site do the rest.
Creating
a widget with relevant content to your own site
however, will result in much more visitors. People
who place your widget on their website do so because
the widget relates to their own website. When people
visit their website, they see your widget and the
ads that you have included in the widget that direct
people to your site as well.
This
is the whole point. the point is to create a widget
while placing ads about your website within the
widget. In many cases just creating widgets with
your Google adsense codes in it will work. The point
is to simply get hits on your website through the
widget or just to get people to click on your ads.
Widgets
themself are not a terrific way to spread backlinks
though. This is because most widgets are placed
in other websites using javascript or iframes. The
information found is javascripts and iframes are
not picked up by search engines because the engines
generally just seek out information within the coding
of the site itself (as apposed to the information
that is viewed when seeing the site in a browser).
However, widgets are viral in the concept that they
spread throughout the internet quickly without you
having to do anything once the widget is completed
and submitted to the widget galleries.
